In 1946, the returning vets from WWII removed an entrenched politically corrupt machine from Athens, Tennessee. Most probably, such an effort would not be possible today with the widespread corruption at virtually every level of government, but it is wonderful to see what could be and was done in those more decent days.

Oh such a battle is coming Val....but it won't be confined to routing out local corruption (although that will be a part of the overall battle).

I know I have said this before on other posts about the Battle of Athens, but it's worthy of note that part of the reason the veterans were successful is because even if other portions of the government were corrupt, they were afraid to call out the National Guard to put them down, because they were afraid the Guard would side with the veterans and the rebellion would spread.

Apparently, the arrest of Zimmerman wasn't enough for the BPP's, they intend to go south and spill some blood. I hope that you folks are suitably prepared to help them to that end?
A friend of mine said that years ago when she was in Japan, a black soldier talked about a mostly black military leading a black revolution in the country. When she came home she asked some friends in the military (whites) and they were clueless. Put not your trust in soldiers, friends, anymore than in princes and sons of men.

Val, I agree that blind trust should not be put in folks just because they are in the military.
