Many will avoid this forum, some will claim they don't have time or have some other excuse. Those that are arrears in bible study should completely read the gospels first, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. But once you start the gospels you'll find it ain't a waist of time and most will find wisdom and blessings.

We need to know the word of God to know His heart.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

The daily practice of reading the bible, and memorizing its contents is essential to spiritual growth (2 Timothy 3:14-17; Psalm 119:9-11)

As you regularly read the Bible and pray, you will grow in faith in two ways. First, you will learn what God promises. He makes promises you can claim. Second, the inspiring stories of the Bible will reassure you and help strengthen your faith.

Speaking of the Holy Scriptures, Paul said, "For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope" (Romans 15:4). As our hope increases, our faith increases. The two are intertwined.

If you don't want to participate, at least read this forum.

Dear Lord, help us to grow in our Christian faith so that we may be children of whom You can be proud.   Amen

GB/PoP

Bro. PoP,

I am looking forward to it. These are going to be very difficult times ahead and we're going to need as much of God's Grace and Mercy as we can get.

As James said in Chapter 4

2 You covet but do not possess. You kill and envy but you cannot obtain; you fight and wage war. You do not possess because you do not ask.

3 You ask but do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.

4 Adulterers! Do you not know that to be a lover of the world means enmity with God? Therefore, whoever wants to be a lover of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

6 But he bestows a greater grace; therefore, it says: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

7 So submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you of two minds.

10 Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will exalt you.

Brother Ferrell,

I see no problem with your request. Remembering that theology is not a replacement for the bible.

"Theology, study of religious faith, practice, and experience; especially : the study of God and of God's relation to the world a theological theory or system a distinctive body of theological opinion."  Merriam-Webster Dictionary

Revelation 22:18-19

18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

when i was growing up, the church would use terms, for the life of me
i could not understand,i don't know if i understand it now. being borned again,
open your heart to Jesus. i have always believed the gospel. i don't doubt
my salvation, for i have cried out to the almighty and he answered. when the
fear of hell leaves you,is that the rebirth? or the deep, deep feeling of peace
that hits the body, that i have no words to explain,is this it. i know that i'm
slow of thought, these are just some things i wish to understand.

For those of you that will be participating, let us discuss the below:

MATTHEW CHAPTER 6:1 & 6

1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet "darkness," and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

What has The Holy Spirit laid on you about the above verses? Do you understand what you have read?

Well what has been laid upon my heart here is twofold in nature. First when we do something for the purpose of drawing attention to ourselves we have received our reward. It is an action that is motivated by our human nature, the "old man"  not of the Spirit. The second is that when we pray in secret it ought to remove all inhibition and posturing. When we have sequestered ourself we are in a one on one time with the Father w/o any distraction hopefully. I think of Moses on Mt. Sinai and Jesus in the wilderness. Submission to the Father in all things.

What has The Holy Spirit laid on me.

When we lift up prayer it should be for His praise, not ours.

In the cloak of darkness much light is reveled in prayer. With silence we can truly hear.

A but,

MATTHEW CHAPTER 10:27

What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.
